D A V I D   R I T T E R

David Ritter hand crafts waterfowl decoys, including ducks, loons and geese. David uses old barn beams, fence posts and trees as the source for his medium. Most of the barn beams come from the Ohio Valley where the early pioneers built their barns from the native hardwood - mostly cherry, oak, black walnut and wormy chestnut. The wood used in these decorative carvings is usually 100 to 125 years old and was hand hewn with an ax or adz. The old juniper fence posts and the Russian olive trees come from Montana ranches, while the walnut trees are found in California. David Ritter lives in the mountains of Southern Montana.
