Charles Ringer was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota in 1948. He attended the University of Colorado from 1966-1968, and then left to pursue a career in art. He then travelled the country for three years with his wife Emily. They lived on the road and worked out of a studio trailer that Charles built. "This experience has proven to be the foundation of my education," says Charles. In 1971, Charles and his wife bought property in Joliet, Montana and converted the existing buildings to studio and gallery space.

"For me, art is a delicate balance of mental imagination and physical translation. In my work, the trial and error method has assured an insight into this balance. Mental creativity is infinite, with art being the physical projection, that extends it to others, for their own intrepretation. The combination is synergistic, the end result, again, infinte."
